Mariana Sussekind is a Brazilian visual artist based in Berlin, transiting between Photographic Research, Cinema and Installation Art.

Freelance video editor since 2002, specially devoted to video art and documentary. She directed the short film “Estado de Emergência”, awarded at the RECINE- International Archive Film Festival, and the documentaries “O Espaço do Preso” and “Amadora”; and has teached Montage theory and practice in film schools in Rio de Janeiro.

In her most recent artistic research, Mariana combines artisanal photography techniques, analog processes and digital video to address topics such as memory, self-representation and editing. Through experimentation, uncontrolled images, and an agonizing observance of time, the artist dives into the feminine territory, where her body is the measure, the fair form of her possibilities in the now.
